I start out with a pile of colorful wool rovings and use felting needles, pushed through corks as holders, and stab, stab, stab…the wool and hopefully not my fingers too often.

The barbed needles pull the wool tighter and tighter, eventually producing a more or less firm mat of fiber.

I love to try new techniques.

This little vase is done much like a coiled clay vessel.

This needle felted woolen vase stands about 4″ tall,

and has a 1 1/2″ opening.

The vase is firmly felted and could hold a bird feather or some dried flower sprigs.
